Deploy an app

Apps lets you run applications without managing a server: pick where the code comes from, and the platform builds and hosts it for you.

  1. Open Apps and click New App.
  2. Choose the source:
    • A public Git repository: paste the repository URL and branch.
    • A private Git repository: see Private repositories and deploy keys.
    • A Docker image: any public image, e.g. ghcr.io/you/app.
  3. For Git sources, pick a build style:
    • Auto-detect works for most projects (Node, Python, Go, PHP, Ruby, …) with no configuration.
    • Dockerfile / Docker Compose if your repository ships its own.
    • Static site for plain HTML/CSS/JS output.
  4. Set the port your app listens on: the port your code binds, e.g. 3000 for most Node apps.

For public and image sources the first deployment starts immediately; watch it build on the app’s Deployments tab.

  • Your app gets a URL automatically: it’s shown at the top of the app page.
  • Set your own domain under Settings: see Custom domains.
  • Configuration belongs in environment variables, not in the repository.

Push your changes, then hit Deploy Now on the Deployments tab. The build log streams onto the page; if a deployment fails you’ll also get a notification with the app name.

The buttons at the top of the app page stop, start, or restart the app. Its CPU and memory ceilings are under Overview → Resources: raising them (within your plan’s per-app limit) restarts the app so the change actually applies.
